A simple addition to the turfs infill supplies a typical cooling range of 30-50 degrees and works naturally when watered by irrigation, rainfall, and dew.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
EVAPORATIVE COOLING TECHNOLOGY
Perspiration is a natural cause of thermoregulation called evaporative cooling. Evaporation of wetness from the skins surface has a cooling effect. In a similar manner, HydroChill® has been shown to cool synthetic turf surfaces by the same scientific method. As the turf surface is heated by solar radiation, water kept in the HydroChill® turf is let go. Evaporating wetness removes heat, creating a cooler, more comfortable green for the players.
- HydroChill® uses moisture to provide a cooling effect. Rainfall, dew, and irrigation can help keep your lawn cool for days, contingent on local weather conditions.

WHEN IS IT MOST EFFECTIVE?
The temperature outside doesnt completely dictate surface temperature. Other elements determine an objects surface temperature, including cloud cover, wind, the suns angle, and other elements.
HydroChill® offers maximum benefit when the sun is nearest the Earth, as shown in the solar radiation calendar. Throughout the summer months in Tucson, the sun sits overhead, causing surfaces to draw more heat, resulting in higher temperatures. The Earths spin is also responsible for hourly variations in the suns light and making HydroChill® most efficient during the hotter hours of a clear day when needed most.
